Grailed Fees Under $120: How the 6% Commission Tier Works

Sales priced under $120 pay a reduced 6% commission with a $1.99 minimum, for sales on or after May 20, 2026. This guide covers what counts as the sale price, the $120 cliff and when the minimum binds — with worked examples.

Short answer: 6%, minimum $1.99, under $120

For sales on or after 2026-05-20, Grailed’s fees page lists commission at 6% of the sale price, with a $1.99 minimum, when the sale price is under $120. At $120.00 or more the standard 9% applies — and either rate is charged on the whole sale, not just a slice of it. Listing is free.

Sell a $100 item with a Grailed Label and the commission is $6.00; price the same sale at $150 and it is $13.50, because 9% then applies to the entire amount.

Scope: this page is a focused look at the under-$120 tier. For both fee lines worked together — commission plus payment processing — see Grailed seller fees: the full stack.

What counts as the sale price: shipping can push you over $120

The tier is chosen by the sale price, and what counts as the sale price depends on the label. With a Grailed Label, commission is charged on the listing price only. Without one, if you ship yourself and charge the buyer for shipping, the sale price is the listing price plus that shipping amount.

That second rule is the trap. A $110 listing with $15 of buyer-charged shipping is a $125 sale without a Label — over the line, so 9% applies to the full $125, a commission of $11.25. With a Grailed Label the same item is a $110 sale, under the line, at 6%: $6.60. The listing price alone never crossed $120; shipping did.

If you price near the line, decide the label question before you set the number, because it changes both the tier and the base.

The $120 cliff: a boundary, not a bracket

Grailed’s page says 6% under $120 and 9% at $120 or more, so read literally, exactly $120.00 lands in the 9% tier. The chosen rate then applies to the whole sale, which makes $120 a cliff rather than a bracket: one cent of price can move the commission by dollars.

Derived commission examples around the 120 dollar line
Sale priceTierCommission
$119.996%$7.20 (6% = $7.1994, rounded)
$120.009%$10.80
$150.009%$13.50

The table above is a derived illustration from the published rates, not a Grailed price list: $3.60 of extra commission for one cent of price. Sellers listing around $118–$120 should treat $119.99 as the ceiling of the reduced tier. For how this line changes the picture against another platform’s fee structure, see Grailed vs eBay fees.

When the $1.99 minimum binds

The reduced tier charges the greater of 6% of the sale price or $1.99. By derived example, the minimum binds whenever 6% of the sale price is less than $1.99 — that is, below roughly $33.17 ($1.99 ÷ 0.06). Above that price, 6% runs ahead of the minimum and the headline rate is what you pay.

Derived examples of when the 1.99 dollar commission minimum binds
Sale price6% of priceCommission chargedEffective rate
$20.00$1.20$1.99 (minimum)≈9.95%
$33.17$1.99$1.996%
$50.00$3.00$3.006%
$100.00$6.00$6.006%

The practical point for cheap listings: on a $20 item the $1.99 minimum pushes the effective commission rate to about 9.95% — above the 9% standard rate you would pay at $120. The reduced tier’s "6%" is only 6% once the sale price clears roughly $33.17. These figures are derived illustrations, rounded half-up.

Worked examples: $100 in the tier, $150 above it

Assumptions: US seller, Grailed Label, no sales tax, processing at the US domestic Stripe-onboarded rate of 3.49% + $0.49. Rounding is half-up to the cent; live rounding may differ by a cent.

Commission, 6% (minimum not binding)−$6.00
Payment processing, 3.49% + $0.49−$3.98

For contrast, a $150 sale pays 9% on the whole amount: $13.50 commission, before processing. Two fees, two lines — commission and processing are never merged into one percentage on Grailed.

Processing in brief: the second line

Everything above is commission only. On top of it, a US domestic seller onboarded with Stripe pays payment processing of 3.49% + $0.49, charged on the total transaction including shipping and tax — on the $100 example that is the $3.98 line. The full ladder of processing rates and bases is covered in Grailed payment processing fee: rates & examples.

A note on older fee pages

Some older Grailed help material aimed at international sellers has described a flat 9% commission across the board, with no under-$120 tier. If you see 9% quoted without the tier, it is likely from that page. The schedule this page follows is the dedicated fees article, “What are the fees?”, updated 2026-05-13 and checked 2026-11-01, which lists both tiers. When in doubt, price from the fees page — and confirm on the live version before listing.

Grailed fees under $120: FAQ

What is Grailed’s commission under $120?

For sales on or after 2026-05-20, Grailed’s fees page lists a reduced 6% commission, with a $1.99 minimum, when the sale price is under $120. The 6% applies to the whole sale, not just the part below $120. On a $100 sale with a Grailed Label the commission is $6.00. At $120.00 or more the standard 9% applies instead. Listing is free. Confirm on the live Grailed fees page before pricing.

Does shipping count toward the $120 threshold?

It depends on the label. With a Grailed Label, commission is charged on the listing price only, so buyer shipping does not count toward the $120 line. Without a Label, if you charge the buyer for shipping, the sale price is the listing price plus that shipping amount, and the combined figure decides the tier. A $110 item with $15 buyer-charged shipping is a $125 sale without a Label, which lands in the 9% tier at $11.25 commission. With a Label the same item is a $110 sale at 6%, or $6.60.

What’s the minimum commission?

$1.99 in the under-$120 tier. Grailed charges the greater of 6% of the sale price or $1.99, so very cheap items still pay at least $1.99. By derived illustration, the minimum binds when 6% of the sale price is less than $1.99, which happens below roughly $33.17 ($1.99 ÷ 0.06). On a $20 sale the commission is $1.99, an effective rate of about 9.95% — higher than the 6% headline.

When did the 6% tier take effect?

2026-05-20. Grailed’s fees page (updated 2026-05-13) applies the reduced 6% commission with the $1.99 minimum to sales on or after May 20, 2026. Sales made before that date follow the earlier schedule; if your sale straddles the change, check the transaction date on your payout and confirm with Grailed’s live fees page.
