Feebrief · methodology & data freshness

How Feebrief estimates seller fees

Feebrief is an independent planning tool. We estimate US seller-side fees from a published schedule file (fees.json), show last-reviewed and next-check dates, and always point you back to each marketplace’s official fee pages before you price or list.

Data source

Estimates come from https://feebrief.com/fees.json (and the same file bundled with the site). Each platform row paraphrases published seller-side schedules already stored there—we do not invent rates on this page.

Last reviewed + next check

Fee rates last reviewed: (from fees.json lastUpdated). Next check: (lastUpdated + 7 days — weekly cadence, same as the home trust strip). Dates above are the current published fallback; calculator pages refresh them from the fee file at runtime.

Simplified schedules — what’s included

Default US seller-side platform fee and (when separate) payment processing for the selected category/tier. Fee bases follow each schedule (item only vs item + buyer-paid shipping). Shared Assumptions copy from the calculator shell still applies on comparison pages.

What’s excluded

Promoted / Boosted / ads, store subscriptions and most subscription discounts, one-off penalties, optional cash-out / Instant Pay fees (unless a schedule notes them), and most promos. Sales tax is not an input even where a real fee base includes it. UK/other markets are not copied from US defaults.

Not affiliated / not official

Feebrief is independent and not affiliated with eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, Vinted, Whatnot, or any other marketplace. Not an official calculator or partner tool.

Official marketplace fee pages

Open the platform’s own help page before you list. Labels match the sources we reference in the fee file.

How to use the comparison

  1. Enter your expected sale price (and buyer-paid shipping if you know it) on the home calculator or a vs page.
  2. Compare estimated fees and take-home side by side.
  3. Confirm on each marketplace’s official fee pages.
  4. Then decide where to list or crosslist.

Open the fee calculator

Run a sale price against every modeled US marketplace, then confirm on official help pages before you list.

Frequently asked questions

Is Feebrief an official marketplace calculator?

No. Independent estimates only—always confirm on each marketplace’s official fee pages.

Why might Feebrief differ from checkout?

Published rates change; category, seller level, promos, ads, subscriptions, tax handling, and order composition can move the real deduction. We use simplified seller-side schedules in fees.json with a last-reviewed date.
