The Etsy Listing Fee: $0.20, Charged When You Publish or Renew
Etsy charges a $0.20 listing fee each time a listing is published or renewed. A listing runs four months or until it sells, and editing a live listing is free. If it expires unsold, renewing is another $0.20 — $0.60 a year for a listing that never sells.
Listing fee figures checked against the Etsy legal fees page and Etsy Help. US sellers, USD.
All figures on this page are static worked examples from Etsy’s published pages; Feebrief does not run a live Etsy calculator. Feebrief is not affiliated with Etsy and is not an official calculator.
Short answer: $0.20 at publish, $0.20 at each renewal
Three rules cover the whole fee, from the Etsy legal fees page and Etsy Help on fees and taxes:
- $0.20 per listing, charged when you publish it and again each time you renew it — the same flat amount no matter what the item sells for.
- Four months or until sold. A listing runs for four months, or ends when the item sells.
- Editing is free. Changing a live listing costs nothing; the next $0.20 comes due only at renewal.
Scope: this page is about the listing fee only. Order-side fees (transaction, processing, Offsite Ads) are summarized in a few sentences below with handoffs. For every line in one place, see the full Etsy fee schedule; for the wider hub, see resale marketplace fees compared.
What the listing fee is: flat and price-independent
The listing fee is a flat $0.20 per listing. It does not scale with your price, your shipping charge or your category, so it is the one Etsy seller fee that costs the same on every item. That makes it trivial on expensive goods and noticeable on cheap ones: $0.20 is 4% of a $5 item but 0.04% of a $500 item.
| Item price | Listing fee | Fee as share of price |
|---|---|---|
| $5.00 | $0.20 | 4.00% |
| $50.00 | $0.20 | 0.40% |
| $500.00 | $0.20 | 0.04% |
The share-of-price column is Feebrief’s arithmetic from the flat $0.20 rate, not an Etsy-published example. Whether a $5 item can carry a 4% listing fee plus order-side fees is a pricing question, not a listing-fee question — see how to reduce your Etsy fees.
When the $0.20 is charged
The fee lands at publish: the moment you list the item, $0.20 is charged to your bill. It lands again at each renewal, whether you renew manually or automatically. Etsy Help confirms that auto-renewal of an expired listing is charged the same $0.20 as a manual renewal.
Help also covers multi-quantity listings: when a listing with more than one unit on hand sells additional quantity, auto-renewal of the sold listing is $0.20 per each additional quantity sold. In short, every four-month block of exposure for a listing — and each extra unit sold under auto-renew — is its own $0.20 charge.
How long a listing lasts, and what editing costs
A listing runs four months or until it sells, whichever comes first. Editing a live listing is free — you can change photos, price or description at no charge, and the edits do not restart the clock or trigger a fee. The only thing that triggers the next $0.20 is a renewal, such as when the four months expire with the item unsold. Confirm current terms on the Etsy legal fees page.
Renewal math for slow sellers
Fast sellers pay the $0.20 once. Slow sellers pay it again every four months, and that is where a flat twenty cents quietly becomes real money. Each row below is Feebrief’s arithmetic — one $0.20 charge per continuous four-month block — not an Etsy-published example:
| Continuous listing period | Charges | Total listing cost |
|---|---|---|
| 4 months | 1 | $0.20 |
| 1 year | 3 | $0.60 |
| 2 years | 6 | $1.20 |
| 3 years | 9 | $1.80 |
| 10 slow listings × 1 year | 30 | $6.00 |
A single never-sold listing held for a year costs $0.60 — three four-month blocks at $0.20 each. A shelf of ten such listings costs $6.00 a year before a single sale. For levers on this, see how to reduce your Etsy fees.
The listing fee is not deducted from your sale
The $0.20 is charged at publish or renewal, not taken out of the order — it is a sunk cost you have usually already paid by the time anything sells. For context only: on a $50 item with $5 shipping and no sales tax, order-side fees are the 6.5% transaction fee ($3.58) plus the 3% + $0.25 processing fee ($1.90), $5.48 total, for a $49.52 payout before the already-paid $0.20. For the full take math see how much Etsy takes from a sale, and for every fee line see the full Etsy fee schedule.

This page is static math, not a live Feebrief calculator
Feebrief’s interactive comparer covers eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, Vinted and Whatnot only. Etsy listing fee: FAQ
Is the Etsy listing fee a one-time charge?
No. The $0.20 is charged each time a listing is published and each time it is renewed, including automatic renewals after expiry, which Etsy Help confirms are also $0.20. A listing kept live for a full year costs $0.60 in listing fees (three four-month blocks), per Feebrief’s arithmetic from the $0.20 rate.
Does editing a live listing cost anything?
No. Editing a live listing is free; the pages compiled on 2026-10-31 state no charge for edits. The next $0.20 comes due only when the listing is renewed — for example after its four months run out.
Is the listing fee deducted from my sale?
No. The listing fee is charged when the listing is published or renewed, not taken out of the order. Order-side fees are separate: on a $50 item plus $5 shipping with no sales tax, the 6.5% transaction fee ($3.58) and the 3% + $0.25 processing fee ($1.90) total $5.48, for a $49.52 payout before the already-paid $0.20. See Feebrief’s page on how much Etsy takes from a sale for the full math.
What does a listing that never sells cost per year?
$0.60. One four-month block plus two renewals is three charges at $0.20 each. This is Feebrief’s arithmetic from the published $0.20 rate, not an Etsy-published example; a listing that sells earlier stops accruing renewals.
Is the $0.20 listing fee refundable if I delete or cancel the listing?
The pages Feebrief compiled on 2026-10-31 do not address refunds of the listing fee either way, so this page claims nothing in either direction. Check Etsy’s fee policy — the legal fees page and the fees-and-taxes Help article — before assuming any refund.
