Depop payout time: dual clocks to balance and bank

Depop payout timing in the United States is two clocks stacked end to end, and the second cannot start until the first one finishes. The Balance clock releases pending sale money into your Depop Balance 2 business days after the item shows as delivered or 10 business days after the sale — whichever comes first. Between the clocks sits the one step you control: withdrawing. After you withdraw, the bank clock runs, and it can take up to 5 days for the money to show in your account. United States, USD.

Last updated . Timing rules checked against Depop's United States help article “How do I get paid? (US),” fetched November 1, 2026. Applies to US sellers paid in USD who withdraw to a linked bank account. United States, USD.

Feebrief is not affiliated with Depop, and this page carries no payout calendar or calculator — your tracking status, your withdrawal timing, and your bank write the actual dates, so this guide simply reads the published rules. For fee math, the Depop fee guide is a separate page.

The dual clock: Balance release first, bank lag second

One sentence from Depop's US help page does most of the work: “We'll send your payment to your Depop Balance, 2 business days after the item shows as delivered or 10 business days after the sale — whichever comes first.” Read it as two release legs racing inside the Balance clock; when the faster leg finishes, pending money becomes withdrawable. Then a second, slower window opens. Side by side:

Clock What it covers Window Depop publishes
Balance clock Pending sale money clearing into your Depop Balance 2 business days after the item shows as delivered, or 10 business days after the sale — whichever comes first
Bank clock Withdrawn Balance traveling to your linked bank Up to 5 days after you withdraw — the article attaches no “business” to this one

Shipping speed, tracking updates, and buyer disputes are what move these dates in real life — the clocks themselves stay fixed.

How “whichever comes first” plays out, day by day

The 10-business-day leg is the detail most quick answers drop. It exists as a backstop: even if the carrier is slow, the sale date keeps counting, so delivery lag can't push your release past it. Two plain walkthroughs, counting the ordinary Monday–Friday week and assuming no buyer issue:

A fast ship. A jacket sells Monday and the carrier scan flips to delivered on Wednesday. Two business days after that scan — Friday — the pending amount releases into your Depop Balance. The 10-business-day leg from Monday's sale wouldn't have ended until two weeks after the sale, so the delivery leg wins easily.

A slow ship. Same Monday sale, but the package doesn't show as delivered until the second Thursday — 9 business days after the sale. Two business days after that scan would be the following Monday, but the 10-business-day leg from the sale lands on Friday of week two. The sale leg fires first, and the money releases then. That is the whole point of the whichever-comes-first wording: whichever leg ends sooner is the one that pays you.

One more rule from the same article frames all of this: “Any money still pending from a sale isn't available for withdrawal and won't be accessible until the item has been delivered.” Nothing is leaving your Balance on a fast sale clock before delivery registers.

Where the money sits: pending, Balance, bank

“Payout” is really three states, and only the last one is cash in hand:

State Withdrawable? What moves it forward
Pending, locked in your Depop Balance No The item shows as delivered, then the 2-business-day release (or the 10-business-day leg) finishes
Available in your Depop Balance Yes Nothing moves until you withdraw — this pause is yours
In your bank — Arrival can take up to 5 days after the withdrawal

A freeze can sit on top of any of it: if the buyer raises an issue, the payment goes on hold until the issue is resolved, and no clock outcome matters while the hold is active. Separately, sellers under 18 need a parent or guardian's verification before Depop will pay them at all.

Can you buy speed? No instant product is documented

As of November 1, 2026, the US “How do I get paid?” page lists no Instant, expedited, or same-day payout product and quotes no fee for one. That is a not-publicly-available finding, not a claim that Depop will never offer faster rails — so treat any app or site promising “instant Depop cash” with suspicion. The levers that genuinely exist are unglamorous: ship promptly with working tracking so “delivered” registers and the 2-business-day leg starts, and resolve buyer issues quickly, since a hold freezes everything above.

One line on fees, then back to timing

In the US, Depop's selling fee is 0% and there's no listing fee to post; payment processing runs 3.3% + $0.45 per sale, and the optional Boost fee is 12% when a sale is attributed to a Boost. Those numbers change what's left to withdraw, not when it arrives — the full breakdown lives in the Depop fee guide.

Payout questions Depop sellers ask

Does Depop send my sale money to my bank automatically?

No. Once you make a sale, the money is paid straight into your Depop Balance, where it first sits as pending. When the release clock finishes, the amount becomes available, and withdrawing to your linked bank account is your move. Only then does the up-to-5-days bank window start counting.

Do weekends count in Depop's payout windows?

The Balance release rule is written in business days — 2 after the item shows as delivered or 10 after the sale, whichever comes first — and business days, as normally counted, skip weekends. The bank leg is different: Depop's US article says withdrawn funds can take up to 5 days to show in your bank account, without the word “business” attached, so don't tighten it to business days yourself.

What happens to my payout if the buyer reports an issue?

Depop puts the payment on hold if the buyer raises an issue, and it stays on hold until the issue is resolved. No release date survives an active hold; once the issue is resolved, the money follows the same whichever-comes-first rule into your Depop Balance.

Tracking says delivered — why isn't the money in my bank yet?

Delivery only starts the faster release leg: 2 business days after the item shows as delivered, the pending amount moves into your Depop Balance. It then waits for you to withdraw, and after withdrawal it can take up to 5 days to show in your bank account. A delivered scan by itself never means same-day cash.

Sources and how we checked

Every timing claim above comes from one primary document: Depop Help Center, “How do I get paid? (US)” — article 9057092334865 on depophelp.zendesk.com — fetched November 1, 2026. That single page supplies the whichever-comes-first release rule, the pending rule, the up-to-5-days bank window, and the hold rule. A second Depop help article about bank arrival did not respond to our fetch on the same date, so nothing on this page leans on it. Fee figures were cross-checked against Feebrief's Depop fee research.

This page was written by reading Depop's own US help article and leaving its hedges exactly as written — “whichever comes first” and “up to 5 days” appear the way Depop published them, and no day count, instant product, or fee was added from anywhere else. Depop can change its payout schedule at any time; the dates here reflect what was published as of November 1, 2026.
