Depop Fees Explained: The Complete US Fee Stack
Depop's US fee stack is short. Listing is free, the selling fee is 0%, and the one mandatory charge on a typical sale is payment processing: 3.3% + $0.45 on the item price plus shipping plus applicable taxes. A single optional layer sits on top — Boost, 12%, charged only on attributed Boosted sales. This page puts the whole stack in one table, states what each fee is charged on and when it applies, and works the same $55 sale three ways so you can see exactly what the optional Boost layer costs.
Depop fee facts checked in the Feebrief fee data set (Depop US entry) against Depop's Seller fees and charges page; the Boosted Listings Policy (effective ) and Boosted Listings help page fetched ; page prepared . Rates shown are for US sellers in USD.
Feebrief has no live calculator embedded on this doorway page — no input, no form. Every figure below is a worked example. The live estimator is a separate page: the Feebrief Depop fee estimator at /depop/, with Boost off by default.
Scope: United States, USD, from the Feebrief fee data set only — this page does not cover UK fees, which work differently. It is the whole-stack glossary spoke under the resale marketplace fees hub. Feebrief is not affiliated with Depop; see the Feebrief disclosure.
Short answer: the whole US fee stack
For US sellers, Depop charges nothing to list and a 0% selling fee. The mandatory line is payment processing — 3.3% + $0.45, applied to the item price plus shipping plus applicable taxes on every Depop Payments sale. The optional line is Boost — 12%, charged only on attributed Boosted sales. That is the entire stack. United States, USD; each rate carries its as-of date in the sources section.
| Fee | Rate | Charged on | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| Listing | $0 | — | Always free to list; no listing fee published |
| Selling fee | 0% | — | No Depop selling fee for US sellers |
| Payment processing | 3.3% + $0.45 | Item + shipping + applicable taxes | Every Depop Payments sale |
| Boost (optional) | 12% | Item price excluding taxes, plus shipping only when the seller arranges their own shipping — not the Depop-label shipping portion | Attributed Boosted sales only |
Selling fee: 0% — and listing is free
Depop does not charge US sellers a selling fee. Commission on the sale itself is 0%, so a $50 sale carries no percent-of-sale or per-sale charge from Depop under that heading. Listing is also free: no listing fee is published, and there is no per-listing or recurring cost to post items in the Feebrief fee data set.
The fee that does hit a typical US sale is payment processing, covered next. If you want the yes/no walkthrough on listing costs specifically, see does Depop charge a listing fee — it takes the $0 listing line apart in detail.
Payment processing: the one mandatory fee
Every Depop Payments sale — processed by Stripe — pays a payment processing fee of 3.3% + $0.45. The base matters as much as the rate: the fee applies to the item price plus shipping plus applicable taxes, not to the item alone. The "applicable taxes" hedge is load-bearing — whether tax sits in the base depends on the taxes that apply to the order, so Feebrief keeps the wording exactly as Depop states it rather than resolving it.
One worked line, no Boost: a $50 item with $5 shipping and $0 tax gives a $55 processing base — 3.3% × $55 + $0.45 = $2.27, leaving roughly $52.73 before anything optional. For the deep dive on this fee, see Depop payment processing fee explained.
Optional Boost: 12%, only on attributed sales
Boost is optional — a paid-promotion layer (individual Boost or Boost Shop) that is off unless you switch it on. It is also off by default in Feebrief's Depop fee estimator. When a sale is attributed to a Boosted listing, Depop charges a 12% Boost fee.
The Boost base in two lines: the fee applies to the item price excluding taxes, plus shipping only when the seller arranges their own shipping; the shipping portion of a Depop Shipping Label is not charged the Boost fee. Attribution in one line: Depop's Boosted Listings Policy charges the fee when the buyer viewed the listing and purchases within 28 days, while Depop's help page also describes views, clicks, and likes — Feebrief follows the Policy's view-based standard. The 12% rate applies to listings created from ; for older listings Depop points sellers to its policy page, and Feebrief publishes no pre-change rate. Full mechanics live in Depop Boost fee explained.
Worked example: the same $55 sale, three ways
Same basket throughout: item $50, shipping $5, tax $0 — so payment processing applies to a $55 base in every scenario. United States, USD. Figures are derived arithmetic, rounded to the cent.
| Scenario | Processing | Boost fee | Total fees | Net of $55 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| No Boost | $2.27 | $0 | ~$2.27 | ~$52.73 |
| Boost + Depop Shipping Label | $2.27 | 12% × $50 = $6.00 | ~$8.27 | ~$46.73 |
| Boost + own shipping | $2.27 | 12% × $55 = $6.60 | ~$8.87 | ~$46.13 |
Processing stays 3.3% + $0.45 on the $55 base either way; what changes is the Boost base — the item alone when Depop's label carries the shipping, item plus shipping when the seller ships it themselves. How Feebrief checks and re-checks rates is documented in the Feebrief methodology; how this site is funded is in the disclosure.
What this glossary does not cover
Three things sit outside this page, deliberately. Payout timing — how long the money takes to arrive after a sale — is its own topic at Depop payout time. UK fees are excluded: Depop publishes different rates for the UK, and this page is US/USD only. Instant or expedited withdrawal: no fee figure is publicly available on the US help pages Feebrief fetched, so none is shown here rather than guessed. Finally, Boost win rates: Feebrief makes no claims about how often Boosted listings sell.
