Depop Boost fee explained: 12% on the item, only when a Boosted sale is attributed
US Depop sellers pay no selling fee. Boosted Listings add 12% of the item sale price, and of the shipping too if you arrange your own shipping, but only on a sale Depop attributes to the Boost. It sits on top of 3.3% + $0.45 payment processing on every sale.
Boost is OFF by default in Feebrief’s comparer. The Feebrief Depop seller fee estimator does not include Boosted Listings: it calculates the 0% selling fee and the 3.3% + $0.45 processing fee. Add 12% of the item price yourself if you expect the sale to be attributed to a Boost. This page is static: every figure is a worked example, with no input, no toggle and no calculator.
Depop fee data checked 2026-10-26 in the Feebrief fee data set and re-checked 2026-11-01 against Depop’s Seller fees and charges, Boosted Listings and Boosted Listings Policy pages. Rates shown are for US sellers using Depop Payments. United States, USD.
Scope: this page covers the US seller-side Boosting fee as published by Depop. It does not cover the buyer-side marketplace fee, UK or other-region rates, how Depop’s ranking treats Boosted items, or whether Boost sells items faster. Depop does not publish those figures and this page does not estimate them. Feebrief is not affiliated with Depop and is not an official calculator; see the Feebrief disclosure.
Short answer: what Depop Boost costs and when you pay it
Depop’s Boosted Listings Policy sets the Boosting fee at 12% (individual Boost or Boost Shop) of the item sale price excluding taxes, plus shipping only when you arrange your own shipping. It applies to listings created from 23 March 2026. For the rate on older listings, see the Policy page; this page quotes no number for it.
Boost is optional and is charged only on an attributed Boosted sale, where the buyer viewed or interacted with the Boosted placement and purchased within 28 days. On a $50 item with $5 buyer-paid shipping, processing is about $2.27; add $6.00 with a Depop Shipping label or $6.60 with your own label if the sale is attributed. Compare how to reduce eBay seller fees, where levers sit on an always-on fee; Depop’s only variable seller fee is opt-in.
Your always-on Depop fees before any Boost (US, as of Oct 2026)
| Fee | Rate | Charged on | Optional? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Depop selling fee | 0% | - | No (always 0%) |
| Payment processing (Depop Payments / Stripe) | 3.3% + $0.45 | Item + shipping + applicable taxes | No |
| Boosted Listings | 12% | Item sale price excluding taxes; plus shipping only if you arrange your own shipping | Yes, and only on attributed Boosted sales |

The Boost rule: 12%, item price, and what happens to shipping
The two fees have different bases, so they are shown in a table rather than merged into one rate. Processing is charged on item, shipping and applicable taxes. Boost is charged on the item sale price excluding taxes, and adds shipping only if you arrange your own shipping; with a Depop Shipping label, Boosting fees are not charged on the shipping portion (Boosted Listings Policy, effective 23 March 2026).
| How the item ships | Boost base | Boost on a $50 item + $5 buyer-paid shipping |
|---|---|---|
| Depop Shipping label | Item sale price only (shipping excluded) | 12% × $50 = $6.00 |
| Your own shipping, charged to the buyer | Item sale price + shipping | 12% × $55 = $6.60 |
Depop Shipping label vs your own label
The difference on this sale is $0.60. “Depop Shipping label” is the exact term in the Policy; the exclusion is tied to that label, not to any prepaid label.
Worked example: $50 item + $5 shipping, three ways
Assumptions: a US seller using Depop Payments, a listing created on or after 23 March 2026, $5 buyer-paid shipping, $0 sales tax, and a sale Depop attributes to the Boost in the Boost rows. Net is shown against the $55 collected and before the cost of the shipping label itself.
| Scenario | Processing 3.3% + $0.45 on $55 | Boost | Total fees | Net of $55 before label |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| No Boost (or Boosted but sale not attributed) | $2.27 | $0 | $2.27 | $52.73 |
| Boost on, Depop Shipping label | $2.27 | $6.00 | $8.27 | $46.73 |
| Boost on, own shipping charged to buyer | $2.27 | $6.60 | $8.87 | $46.13 |
Processing comes to $2.265 on this sale and is shown as $2.27; each fee is rounded half-up to the cent and Depop’s live rounding may differ by a cent. See how Feebrief estimates seller fees.
The Feebrief Depop estimator shows net against the $50 item price, not the $55 collected, so its no-Boost figure for this sale is $47.73. The $5 shipping is collected from the buyer and goes toward the label. Both views describe the same $2.27 in fees.
Boost on this sale is between two and a half and three times the processing line.
The same three ways on a $20 and a $100 item
Derived from the same published rules, in the order no Boost / Depop Shipping label / own label.
| Sale | Processing on item + ship | Boost, Depop label | Boost, own label | Fees | Net of collected |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $20 item + $5 ship ($25 collected) | 3.3% × $25 + $0.45 = $1.28 | $2.40 | $3.00 | $1.28 / $3.68 / $4.28 | $23.72 / $21.32 / $20.72 |
| $100 item + $5 ship ($105 collected) | 3.3% × $105 + $0.45 = $3.92 | $12.00 | $12.60 | $3.92 / $15.92 / $16.52 | $101.08 / $89.08 / $88.48 |
The fixed $0.45 weighs most on the low-ticket sale, while Boost scales with price.
When Boost is charged and when it is not
Depop’s Boosted Listings Policy charges the fee when a buyer views the Boosted placement and purchases within 28 days; the Boosted Listings help article describes views, clicks or likes. Both are official; the Policy governs the fee. Do not simplify this to “if you Boost it you pay 12%”.
- Attributed sale: the 12% applies on top of the processing fee.
- Unattributed sale of the same listing: only the 3.3% + $0.45 processing applies. Confirm the exact Policy wording on the live page.
Depop does not publish how often sales are attributed, how much faster Boosted items sell or what share of sales are attributed to Boost, so this page states none of that.
Boost against your other fees on the same sale
On the $50 + $5 sale, processing is $2.27 and Boost is $6.00 or $6.60, so Boost is the largest line when it fires. This page gives no verdict on whether Boost is worth it; the arithmetic is there to decide item by item.
| Fee line | Amount | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Selling fee | $0.00 | Always |
| Processing | $2.27 | Every sale |
| Boost, Depop Shipping label | $6.00 | Attributed Boosted sales only |
| Boost, own label | $6.60 | Attributed Boosted sales only |
For an always-on commission that cannot be switched off, see Poshmark seller fees (20% on item only); Depop’s 0% selling fee plus an optional Boost sits at the other end.
Run your own numbers in the Feebrief Depop estimator
The live Feebrief Depop seller fee estimator calculates the 0% selling fee and the 3.3% + $0.45 processing on item plus buyer-paid shipping, and shows net against the item price. Boost is off, and there is no Boost toggle. To see the Boost case by hand, add 12% of the item price to the estimator’s fee line if you use a Depop Shipping label, or 12% of item plus shipping if you use your own label. For method, see how Feebrief estimates seller fees.
Feebrief’s interactive fee comparer covers eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, Vinted and Whatnot only. The tables on this page are static worked examples from Depop’s published pages.

Depop Boost FAQ
Is the Depop Boost fee charged on shipping?
It depends on how the item ships. Depop’s Boosted Listings Policy sets the Boosting fee at 12% of the item sale price excluding taxes, and adds shipping to that base only when you arrange your own shipping. If you use a Depop Shipping label, the shipping portion is excluded. On a $50 item with $5 buyer-paid shipping that is $6.00 with a Depop Shipping label and $6.60 with your own label.
Do I pay the Boost fee if my item sells without the Boost?
No. The 12% is charged only on an attributed Boosted sale, where the buyer viewed or interacted with the Boosted placement and purchased within 28 days. Depop’s Policy describes the trigger as a view; the Boosted Listings help article describes views, clicks or likes. A sale of the same listing that Depop does not attribute to the Boost carries only the 3.3% + $0.45 processing fee. Depop does not publish how often sales are attributed, and this page does not estimate it.
Does the Feebrief Depop estimator include the Boost fee?
No. The estimator at /depop/ calculates the 0% selling fee and the 3.3% + $0.45 processing on item plus buyer-paid shipping, and shows net against the item price. Boost is off and there is no toggle. To see the Boost case, add 12% of the item price to the estimator’s fee line if you use a Depop Shipping label, or 12% of item plus shipping if you use your own label. On a $50 item that is $6.00 or $6.60 more.
