OfferUp seller fees (US): $0 commission on local sales, shipping retired

OfferUp takes no commission or fee on in-person sales, and nationwide shipping no longer exists, so there is no shipped-checkout fee. What remains is optional and flat: Promote+, one-time promotes and paid listings after a free monthly allotment. OfferUp is US-only for full features.

OfferUp fee data checked against OfferUp Help (What is OfferUp, page updated ; Nationwide shipping ending, page updated ; Promote Plus subscription, page updated ; free listing limits, page updated ). Figures are for US individual sellers. United States, USD.

Short answer: OfferUp takes $0 on local sales, and shipping is gone

OfferUp’s help center says it does not charge fees or take a commission from in-person transactions. Nationwide shipping has ended: new listings became local-only from 2025-09-23, and shipping was removed from remaining listings by 2025-10-21, so no shipped-checkout fee applies. Promote+ (Promote Plus) is an optional advertising subscription at $19.99 per month or $99.99 per year, not a charge on any sale.

Sell a $50 item at a local meetup and OfferUp takes nothing: you keep the full $50.00.

Why there is no percentage on this page

Every remaining OfferUp cost is a flat amount or a subscription, so there is no rate to apply to a sale price. Payment at a local meetup happens outside OfferUp, and OfferUp takes nothing from it; this page says nothing about fees on any third-party payment app you and the buyer choose.

Worked example: $50 item sold at a local meetup

The example assumes a US individual seller, a local meetup with payment taken in person outside the OfferUp app, a listing within the free monthly allotment for its category, no promotion purchased, and no sales tax. Promote+ is shown separately because it is a subscription, not a charge on the sale. See how Feebrief estimates seller fees.

Sell a $50 item on OfferUp at a local meetup and OfferUp takes nothing: no commission, no checkout fee and no shipping fee, because nationwide shipping ended in October 2025. You keep the full $50.00. The only money OfferUp can ask you for is optional: Promote+ at $19.99 a month or $99.99 a year, a one-time promote, or extra listings once you pass the free monthly allotment for a category.

Promote+ and one-time promote: optional, flat, not per sale

Promote+ (Promote Plus) is billed through the App Store or Google Play at $19.99 per month or $99.99 per year. It promotes one item at a time, and you can switch which item. The first subscription on an app-store account gets a 3-day free trial, one per account. Source: OfferUp Help: Promote Plus subscription (updated 2025-09-11).

Free listing limits by category, and what costs money after them

The one cost a casual seller can meet without choosing advertising is the free monthly listing allotment. Per OfferUp Help: About free listing limits (updated 2025-04-02), the allotment refreshes on the 1st of each calendar month and unused listings do not roll over.

Past the allotment, OfferUp offers paid single listings and, for select categories, listing subscription packages. Prices vary and are not on the help center. A seller listing more than 25 furniture items in one month, for example, would reach the paid path even with $0 commission.

What changed: nationwide shipping ended in 2025

Per OfferUp Help: Nationwide shipping ending (page updated 2026-09-22):

If you sold through OfferUp shipping before then, expect local pickup only now. OfferUp’s current help pages do not publish the old shipped-checkout rate, so this page does not either, and older pages that quote a shipped fee describe a product that no longer exists. For a platform that still has a shipped branch, see Facebook Marketplace seller fees ($0 local, 10% shipped).

Informational page: not a Feebrief calculator

Feebrief’s interactive fee comparer currently covers eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, Vinted and Whatnot only. OfferUp is not in that data set, so the figures on this page are static facts from OfferUp’s published help pages, not a live Feebrief calculator. See resale marketplace fees compared and how Feebrief estimates seller fees. Feebrief is not affiliated with OfferUp and is not an official calculator; see the Feebrief disclosure.

OfferUp fees FAQ

Does OfferUp take a percentage of my sale?

No. OfferUp states on its help center that it does not charge fees or take a commission on in-person transactions. When you meet a buyer and take payment in person, OfferUp deducts nothing, so a $50 sale leaves you with $50.00. The only things OfferUp can charge a seller are optional and flat: Promote+ at $19.99 a month or $99.99 a year, a one-time promote, and paid listings after you use up the free monthly allotment for a category. Confirm the live wording on the What is OfferUp page.

Is there still a fee when I ship an item on OfferUp?

No, because OfferUp no longer offers shipping. Per the OfferUp help article on nationwide shipping ending, new listings became local-only from 2025-09-23 and shipping was removed from all remaining listings by 2025-10-21. Any page that still quotes a shipped-checkout percentage is describing the old product. OfferUp’s current help pages do not publish that old rate, so this page does not either. Confirm the dates on the live shipping-ending page.

Do I have to buy Promote+ to sell on OfferUp?

No. Promote+ (Promote Plus) is an optional advertising subscription billed through the App Store or Google Play at $19.99 per month or $99.99 per year, with a 3-day free trial the first time you subscribe. It promotes one item at a time and you can switch which item. It is not a percentage of any sale and is not deducted from the money a buyer hands you, which is why this page shows it as a separate line under the $50 example rather than as a fee on the sale. Confirm the live price and trial terms in the app or on the help page.
