OfferUp Free Listing Limit: How Many Free Listings You Get Per Month

OfferUp gives each seller a monthly free-listing allotment that varies by category — from 1 free listing for cars and motorcycles to a 200-slot shared pool covering everything else — and the allotment refreshes on the 1st of each calendar month. Unused free listings do not roll over. This page is the full by-category table plus the reset rules, with every fact dated.

The "200 combined" is a shared bucket, not 200 per category. Every category not listed above draws from one common pool of 200 free listings per month. List 60 baby items and 141 books and you have used 201 slots from that single pool — the cap applies to the bucket as a whole, not to each category inside it. This shared-bucket mechanic is the part most partial answers leave out.

Curiosity footnote, clearly labeled: summing every published cap (1+1+15+15+25+25+25+200) gives a theoretical 307 free slots for a seller who maxed all seven capped categories and the shared pool. That is Feebrief's own arithmetic on the published caps — OfferUp's article lists per-category limits and states no grand total, so 307 should never be attributed to OfferUp.

When the free listing limit resets

Both halves of the refresh rule, stated together per the source article: the free-listing allotment refreshes on the 1st of each calendar month, and unused free listings do not roll over. A slot you don't use in January is gone on February 1st — it is not banked, and your count starts fresh at whatever your category's cap allows.

The practical implication is timing. Because Cars & Trucks and Motorcycles get only 1 free listing a month and jewelry, furniture and tools get 25, it pays to time high-value listings to the month you actually intend to sell. Post the car in the month it's ready; a wasted free slot in a 1-per-month category is a full month's allotment gone.

What happens when you hit your free listing limit

Hitting the cap does not lock you out of listing. Once the free allotment for a category is used, OfferUp sells paid single listings, and listing subscription packages exist in select categories. The price of paid singles varies by category, and subscription package pricing varies too — neither is publicly available on OfferUp's help pages, so this page quotes no dollar figure for either rather than publishing a guess. The app shows the price before you buy.

Also worth keeping straight: the limit governs listing slots, not what you pay on a sale. In-person local sales carry $0 commission — OfferUp states it does not charge fees or take a commission on in-person transactions (What is OfferUp, page updated 2026-08-31, checked 2026-11-01) — so a free listing in a non-capped category still costs you nothing end to end.

If your underlying question is whether OfferUp charges a fee to list at all — a separate yes/no question from how many free listings you get — see does OfferUp charge a listing fee.

Promote+ is not a listing limit

Promote+ costs $19.99 per month or $99.99 per year and is optional visibility promotion — it is not a listing allotment and does not add free listings; see Promote+ cost.

OfferUp free listing limit FAQ

How many free listings do I get on OfferUp per month?

It depends on the category. Per OfferUp's About free listing limits help article (article 13072929390228, page updated 2025-04-02, checked 2026-11-01): Cars & Trucks 1; Motorcycles 1; Appliances 15; Cell Phones & Accessories 15; Furniture 25; Jewelry & Accessories 25; Tools & Machinery 25; and 200 combined across all other categories.

When does the OfferUp free listing limit reset?

On the 1st of each calendar month. OfferUp states the free-listing allotment refreshes then — whatever you used the month before, your count starts over on the 1st.

Do unused free listings roll over on OfferUp?

No. Unused free listings do not roll over. A slot you don't use in one month is gone when the allotment refreshes on the 1st of the next month, not banked for later.

Why do I only get 1 free listing for my car?

Cars & Trucks and Motorcycles are capped at 1 free listing per month, the tightest allotment OfferUp publishes. Every other category gets more, from 15 for appliances and cell phones up to the 200-slot shared pool that covers everything else.

Can I buy more listings after I hit the limit?

Yes. Once the free allotment is used, OfferUp sells paid single listings, and listing subscription packages exist in select categories. Prices vary by category and are not publicly available on OfferUp's help pages, so this page quotes none — check the app for the current price. Whether OfferUp charges a fee to list at all is a separate question: does OfferUp charge a listing fee?

Is Promote+ a way to get more listings?

No. Promote+ costs $19.99 per month or $99.99 per year and is optional visibility promotion — it is not a listing allotment and does not add free listings.
