eBay vs Vinted fees: which leaves more take-home?

Sellers often search ebay vs vinted fees before deciding where to list. eBay’s most-categories final value fee is about 13.6% of the total amount (item + shipping) plus a per-order fee of $0.40 on orders over $10 or $0.30 at $10 or less, with payment processing included. Vinted charges US sellers a 0% selling fee, so you keep the item price—while buyers pay a separate mandatory Vinted fee. Enter one sale price to compare estimated seller net side by side.

How it works

  1. Enter your expected sale price (and buyer-paid shipping if you know it).
  2. We apply each platform’s published seller-side fee assumptions.
  3. Compare estimated fees and take-home side by side—then confirm on the platform before you list.

Fee-model angle: eBay’s FVF base includes item + buyer-paid shipping (and sales tax in real life, not entered here), plus the per-order fee. Vinted’s seller side is $0 in our US schedule; the buyer’s Vinted fee (typically about 5% + $0.70, varying by item, order value, and bundle) is not subtracted from your take-home but is not zero, and it can affect what buyers are willing to pay. Optional Vinted bumping fees and eBay store discounts or Promoted Listings are not modeled. Always confirm on eBay Selling fees and Vinted’s fee help page.

Static example using the US schedules in our fee file: sale price as entered, buyer-paid shipping $0, each fee component rounded to the cent. Estimates only; buyer-side fees are not subtracted from seller take-home.

Estimated seller take-home on eBay (most categories) and Vinted at $25, $50 and $100
Sale price eBay take-home Vinted take-home
$25 $21.20 $25.00
$50 $42.80 $50.00
$100 $86.00 $100.00

Assumptions: eBay “Most categories” at 13.6% of item + shipping (shipping input $0) plus $0.40 per order (orders over $10), payment processing included, no sales tax, store discount or Promoted Listings. Vinted US sellers: 0% selling fee, no bumping fees; the buyer’s Vinted fee (typically about 5% + $0.70, varies) is paid by the buyer and not deducted here.

Assumptions

Sold item; seller pays listed seller-side fees; shipping collected separately and not deducted unless platform mandates otherwise; no promotions/subscriptions unless noted.

How the numbers are built
  • The sale is treated as already completed.
  • Seller net starts from the sale price. Buyer-paid shipping is not added to the payout, and shipping you pay yourself is not subtracted.
  • A fee includes buyer-paid shipping only when that schedule’s base says so. Sales tax is never an input, even where the real fee base includes it.
  • Boosted or promoted listings, store subscriptions, and optional cash-out fees are left out unless the selected schedule includes them.
  • If payment processing is included in the platform fee, the payment column says Included and is not subtracted again.
  • Platforms without a schedule for the selected market are hidden. US rates are not copied onto the UK.
  • Each fee component is rounded to the nearest cent.

List once, sell on more marketplaces

You just compared estimated take-home across apps. If you list on more than one marketplace, a crosslisting tool can push the same title, photos, and price so you type less — and can auto-delist when an item sells. Pick a tool only after you’ve chosen where the fee math makes sense.

Feebrief is free. Crosslisting tool links may be affiliate links. Affiliate disclosure

Is a crosslisting tool worth it?

If you already sell on two or more apps, the time you save retyping listings (and avoiding double-sales with auto-delist) is usually the reason people pay for a crosslister — not because it changes marketplace fees. Fees still come from eBay, Vinted, and the rest; Feebrief helps you pick where to list, then a crosslister helps you list everywhere faster.

Frequently asked questions

At what price does eBay or Vinted leave you more?

For seller-side take-home, Vinted’s 0% selling fee usually leaves more than eBay’s ~13.6% FVF plus the per-order fee in our US schedules. But buyers pay a separate Vinted fee, which can change what buyers will pay and how fast items sell. Enter your numbers above.

If Vinted has 0% seller fees, do buyers pay zero?

No. Vinted’s “0% selling fee” is a seller-side fact only. Buyers pay a mandatory Vinted fee at checkout—typically about 5% + $0.70, but it varies by item, order value, and single vs bundle purchase. Feebrief does not subtract that buyer fee from seller take-home, so “free to sell” does not mean “free for buyers.”

Is Feebrief an official eBay or Vinted calculator?

No. Independent estimate only—confirm on each marketplace’s fee pages.

Does shipping count toward seller fees?

It depends on the marketplace. Some fee bases include buyer-paid shipping (and sometimes tax); others charge mainly on the item price. Feebrief follows each platform’s published seller-side rules in our fee file and shows assumptions next to the calculator. Shipping you pay out of pocket to ship the item is generally not modeled as a deduction unless noted.

Why might Feebrief’s number differ from what the app shows at checkout?

Published rates change, and your real deduction can depend on category, seller level, promotions, store subscriptions, promoted listings, tax handling, and order composition. We use simplified seller-side schedules in fees.json with a last-reviewed date. Treat the result as a planning estimate, then verify in the platform before you price or list.

Do these estimates include promotions, ads, or subscription discounts?

Usually no. Unless a note in the breakdown says otherwise, we exclude promoted/boosted listing fees, optional ads, store subscription discounts, one-off penalties, and most promos. If you run ads or pay for a seller subscription, your net can be lower (or occasionally improved by a promo) than the estimate.
