Does Facebook Marketplace Charge Sellers? Yes — $0 Local Pickup vs 10% Shipped (US)
Yes. For US individual sellers, whether Meta takes a cut is decided by how the buyer gets the item: local pickup transactions carry a $0 seller selling fee, while shipped orders completed through onsite checkout pay a 10% selling fee on the total transaction value — item price plus shipping plus applicable taxes — with a $0.80 minimum per order. This page gives the fork, one worked order, and stops there.
Fee data checked against Meta's help article on selling fees, the Meta merchant policies and the Meta Onsite Checkout Payments Features Terms (label terms last updated 2026-08-31). Rates shown are for US individual sellers. United States, USD.

Short answer: the fee is set by how the buyer gets the item
There is one fork. If the buyer picks the item up locally, the seller selling fee is $0. If the item ships and is paid through onsite checkout, Meta charges 10% of the total with a $0.80 floor. Nothing about category or listing type changes those two numbers.
| How the buyer gets the item | Seller selling fee |
|---|---|
| Local pickup | $0 |
| Shipped, via onsite checkout | 10% of the total transaction value (item + shipping + applicable taxes), minimum $0.80 per order |

Selling with local pickup — $0
On this path the seller selling fee is $0: Meta takes no cut of the sale price when the transaction is local pickup. There is no percentage and no minimum on this path — the $0.80 floor exists only on shipped onsite checkout orders. That fee fact is all this page asserts about local pickup; the dedicated Facebook Marketplace local pickup fees guide covers that path in depth.
Selling with shipping — 10% of the total, minimum $0.80
When a listing ships and the buyer pays through onsite checkout, Meta's selling fee is 10% of the total transaction value. That total is the item price plus shipping plus applicable taxes — the fee is not calculated on the item price alone, so "applicable taxes" belongs in the base exactly as Meta publishes it. The fee carries a $0.80 minimum per order: because 10% of $8.00 is exactly $0.80, the minimum is what you pay on shipped orders whose total transaction value is under $8.00; above that, the 10% applies as-is. The rate applies to US individual sellers, per Meta help and merchant policies as of 2026-10-31; commercial arrangements are out of scope here (see below).
Worked example: $40 item + $8 shipping
| Step | Arithmetic | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Total transaction value | $40.00 + $8.00 (item + shipping) | $48.00 |
| Selling fee | 10% × $48.00 | $4.80 |
| You'd see, before label cost | $48.00 − $4.80 | $43.20 |
Two arithmetic steps: add the item price and the shipping to get the base, then take 10% of it. Applicable taxes would join that base when they apply. There is no fee calculator on this page — Feebrief has no live calculator for this platform — so the arithmetic is printed instead; substitute your own numbers.
The shipping label is not a selling fee
If you ship using a prepaid label bought through Meta, the label's cost is deducted from your payout. That deduction is a shipping cost, not a percentage stacked on top of the 10% — buying a label does not change the selling fee. The label terms sit in the Meta Onsite Checkout Payments Features Terms, last updated 2026-08-31. For how label pricing works and how it flows through a payout, see Facebook Marketplace shipping fee.
