Grailed vs Poshmark Fees: Commission, Processing, and Who Pays the Label
Poshmark bills sellers one line: 20% of the item price at $15 and above, a flat $2.95 below that, processing folded in. Grailed bills two: a 6%-or-9% commission and a separate 3.49% + $0.49 processing fee. Below, both rulebooks are mapped line by line, one designer tee runs through each stack at $55, $95 and $160, and the two price branches — $15 on Poshmark, $120 on Grailed — are shown to the cent. All arithmetic is static and date-stamped; the label question gets its own section.
Last updated . Poshmark rates checked 2026-10-26 against the Poshmark Fee Policy; Grailed rates checked 2026-11-01 against the Grailed Support fees article (updated 2026-05-13), the payment-processing article (updated 2025-03-07) and the Grailed Terms. United States, USD. Working assumptions for every net on this page: a Grailed seller onboarded with Stripe, shipping with a Grailed Label so the commission base is the listing price alone, sales tax $0 and buyer-paid shipping $0 in the tables; Poshmark figures are item-only, processing included.
Feebrief is independent and unaffiliated with either marketplace. Each fee line is rounded half-up to the cent as it is derived, so a live invoice can differ by a cent. Confirm current rates on the linked policy pages before pricing a listing.
Two fee models on one $95 designer tee
Sell a $95 designer tee on Grailed and the payout after fees is $85.49. Two deductions get it there: a $5.70 commission (6%, because the sale is under $120) and $3.81 of payment processing (3.49% of $95 is $3.3155, plus $0.49, rounded to $3.81). Sell the identical tee on Poshmark and exactly one deduction appears: 20% of the item price, $19.00, leaving $76.00. At this price the gap between the two payouts is $9.49.
Neither statement is wrong — they are different billing models. Grailed's commission and its processing fee are separate lines charged on separate bases (see the anatomy map below); Poshmark's single percentage already contains its payment processing. So quoting Grailed's "6%" against Poshmark's "20%" understates the first and overstates the second: the honest all-in Grailed figure at $95 is 10.01% of the price. Everything else on this page is that same honesty, applied at more prices.
The fee anatomy map: each rule and the base it is charged on
| Fee line | Grailed rule | Poshmark rule | Base / charged-on note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Commission | 6% under $120, minimum $1.99 (the 6% tier covers sales on or after 2026-05-20); 9% at $120 and above | 20% of the item price at $15 and above | Grailed: listing price only with a Grailed Label; listing price plus buyer-charged shipping without. Poshmark: item price only |
| Low-price branch | The $1.99 commission floor stands in whenever 6% of the price would be smaller | A flat $2.95 replaces the entire fee when the item is under $15 | Both are floors, but different ones: Grailed's protects the commission line only; Poshmark's covers commission and processing together |
| Payment processing | 3.49% + $0.49 on its own line for a US seller onboarded with Stripe; 3.49% + $0.99 if eligible but not onboarded | No separate line — processing sits inside the 20% / $2.95 | Grailed: the total transaction amount, including shipping and tax where applicable |
| Listing and monthly | $0 to list; no monthly seller fee on the fee pages used here | $0 to list; no monthly seller fee on the fee pages used here | Nothing is owed before a sale on either marketplace |
| Shipping label | Grailed Label cost is settled on the seller's side of the payout | Prepaid label; the buyer typically pays | Rules only — neither marketplace publishes label prices on the pages used here, so no label dollar is modeled on this page |
Grailed's schedule comes from the "What are the fees?" help article (updated 2026-05-13, fetched 2026-11-01), with the 6% tier applying to sales made on or after 2026-05-20; Poshmark's comes from the Fee Policy (checked 2026-10-26). The structural point to carry through the rest of the page: Poshmark's number is all-in, Grailed's commission alone is not — and the two commission bases are not the same either.
One garment, three price tags: nets at $55, $95 and $160
The same garment, repriced three ways: $55 for an off-week, $95 for the grail week, $160 for a piece that clears Grailed's $120 tier. Assumptions are the ones stated at the top — Grailed Label, Stripe onboarded, tax $0, buyer-paid shipping $0 — and every net below stops at marketplace fees, because label cost is a separate question handled further down. The ledger itself stays deliberately narrow:
| List price | Grailed seller net | Poshmark seller net |
|---|---|---|
| $55.00 | $49.29 | $44.00 |
| $95.00 | $85.49 | $76.00 |
| $160.00 | $139.53 | $128.00 |
How the Grailed side is built
| List price | Commission | Processing (3.49% + $0.49) | Total fees |
|---|---|---|---|
| $55.00 | $3.30 at 6% | $2.41 | $5.71 |
| $95.00 | $5.70 at 6% | $3.81 | $9.51 |
| $160.00 | $14.40 at 9% | $6.07 | $20.47 |
Processing is 3.49% of the price plus $0.49, rounded half-up to the cent before summing: $2.41 at $55 (1.9195 + 0.49), $3.81 at $95 (3.3155 + 0.49), $6.07 at $160 (5.584 + 0.49). At $160 the commission is 9% of the whole price because the sale sits at or above $120.
The Poshmark side needs no second table. One line — 20% of the item price — takes $11.00, $19.00 and $32.00 at the three prices, processing inside, so the net is simply 80% of the list: $44.00, $76.00, $128.00.
All-in share of the list price
| List price | Grailed | Poshmark |
|---|---|---|
| $55.00 | 10.38% | 20.00% |
| $95.00 | 10.01% | 20.00% |
| $160.00 | 12.79% | 20.00% |
Even at the 9% tier, Grailed's all-in share (12.79% at $160) runs well under Poshmark's flat 20% on these numbers — but note what the Grailed column still excludes: the label, whose cost lands on the seller's side of the payout, while Poshmark buyers typically pay their own shipping. That asymmetry can close a real part of the gap, and because no label dollar is published on the pages used here, none is assumed.
Poshmark's $15 branch: a flat $2.95 meets the 20% rate
Below $15, Poshmark stops taking a percentage and charges a flat $2.95 for the entire fee. The branch point is the item price itself, which produces a small oddity best seen in cents:
| Item price | Poshmark fee | Seller net |
|---|---|---|
| $14.99 | $2.95, flat fee under $15 | $12.04 |
| $15.00 | $3.00, at 20% | $12.00 |
Pricing at $15.00 instead of $14.99 raises the fee by five cents and lowers the net by four: the flat branch really is cheaper just under the line. Grailed has a floor in the same territory — 6% of $14.99 is $0.90, below the $1.99 minimum, so the minimum stands in, and with processing ($1.01) the Grailed deductions also come to $3.00 at either price, netting $11.99 at $14.99 and $12.00 at $15.00. At these prices the two apps land within five cents of each other before any label consideration, so the sections below — not the headline rates — are what decide cheap listings.
Grailed's $120 seam: where the commission becomes 9%
Grailed's commission has one internal branch: under $120 it is 6% (never below $1.99); at $120 and above it is 9%, applied to the entire price rather than only the amount over $120. The 6% tier covers sales made on or after 2026-05-20, per the fees article updated 2026-05-13. Because the higher rate hits the whole amount, the seam itself is worth a look:
| List price | Commission | Processing (3.49% + $0.49) | Total fees | Seller net |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $119.99 | $7.20 at 6% | $4.68 | $11.88 | $108.11 |
| $120.00 | $10.80 at 9% | $4.68 | $15.48 | $104.52 |
One cent of list price, $3.60 of additional fees: the seller who prices at $119.99 banks $108.11 while the seller at $120.00 banks $104.52. Poshmark has no matching branch above $15 — its 20% runs unchanged at every price on this page.
Labels and who pays: buyer-side prepaid vs seller-side payout
Percentages are only half the shipping story; the other half is who buys the label, and out of which side of the payout it comes. Neither marketplace publishes label prices on the pages used here, so this section is rules, not dollars:
- Poshmark: the buyer typically pays for shipping and receives a prepaid label. That payment never enters the seller's 20% base, and nothing label-related is deducted from the seller's payout on a standard sale.
- Grailed with a Grailed Label: the label's cost is settled on the seller's side of the payout — the Terms describe the payout as the purchase price minus taxes, commission, label costs and applicable fees. The trade-off that comes with it: the commission base narrows to the listing price alone.
- Grailed with your own shipping: you buy postage yourself, and the commission base widens to the listing price plus buyer-charged shipping — enough, on some orders, to carry the sale across $120 and into the 9% rate. The processing fee applies to the total transaction either way.
The nets on this page assume a Grailed Label with buyer-paid shipping at $0, so no shipping dollars pass through either ledger; on a real Grailed sale, the label comes out of the Grailed numbers shown.
Checking the numbers: Poshmark live, Grailed by hand
Feebrief's Poshmark math can be run live: the Poshmark seller fees page hosts a fee estimator that applies the 20% / $2.95 split — including the cents-level $15 branch — to any price you give it. There is no Grailed calculator here: Feebrief does not run one, and every Grailed figure on this page is static hand arithmetic from dated sources, so when Grailed revises a rate this page updates on its next check rather than in real time. One stale-page warning: an older Grailed international-sellers help article still reads "9% across the board"; the dedicated fees article (updated 2026-05-13) is the current schedule. Poshmark rates were last checked 2026-10-26 and Grailed pages 2026-11-01.
Common questions on these two fee schedules
Does Poshmark's 20% include payment processing?
Yes. The 20% commission at $15 and above — or the flat $2.95 under $15 — is Poshmark's only fee line on a standard sale, and payment processing is inside it. Grailed does the same job with two lines: a 6% or 9% commission plus a separate 3.49% + $0.49 processing fee for a US seller onboarded with Stripe (3.49% + $0.99 if eligible but not onboarded). That is why Grailed's headline percentage alone always understates its real take.
Is Poshmark's fee 5.99% now? I remember a 2024 change.
No. Poshmark tested a 5.99% seller fee in October 2024 and then reverted it. The schedule in force at the 2026-10-26 check is the one on this page: a flat $2.95 under $15 and 20% of the item price at $15 and above, processing included. Any site still quoting 5.99% without a date is repeating the test, not the policy.
On a $100 sale, which app pays the seller more?
Grailed, on this page's assumptions. A $100 Grailed Label sale by a Stripe-onboarded US seller incurs a $6.00 commission (6%) plus $3.98 of processing (3.49% + $0.49) — $9.98 of fees — for a $90.02 net. Poshmark's single 20% line takes $20.00 and leaves $80.00. The margin narrows once an item crosses Grailed's $120 tier, where the commission steps to 9% on the whole price.
Does shipping money enter either fee base?
Not on Poshmark: the 20% is charged on the item price alone, and the buyer's shipping payment sits outside the base. On Grailed it depends on the label. Ship with a Grailed Label and the commission base is the listing price only; arrange your own shipping and the base widens to the listing price plus buyer-charged shipping. Grailed's processing fee, unlike its commission, is charged on the total transaction including shipping and tax where applicable.
